Been awhile since I posted something here. Important that I get some info out for my latest ULink project. Having established access to space on both the Hammons tower and the Sparta City water tower, I am just weeks away from un-leasing the RF hounds to the public. Today, I installed the primary backhaul radio on the Sparta tower. From here, I will be adding two more access point radios that will serve as the initial client accessible units. Current frequency use is in the 5.8ghz UNII 3 bands allowing for high bandwidth but limited distance.

Most people at this point want to know pricing. Well, it is not yet fully established. I am having my web guru work up a couple pages that will serve as the info pages for the ISP services. There, I will have all the pricing info you need. At this point, its still a work in process. Once price I can divulge is the installation/equipment cost that will be required for all new residential customers. $75 will be the necessary installation fee to cover the equipment and install process. With this, ULink will provide you a brand new shiny client side radio and Ethernet cable connected straight to your router. Before we leave, you will be operational on the net with a great new Internet service.

We will also be providing referral and Veteran discounts as well as a couple other unique benefits I have up my sleeve. All in all, I plan on this new service being a terrific replacement to your traditional wired Internet.

ULink is spending some time on the road for the next few months as we work on designing a new LBS based wireless network for he Veterans Administration. This large rollout is currently focused on all VA hospitals east of the Mississippi river and covers some 400+ properties.
Specifications for the network are set to deliver standard data services and location based tracking on the ISM 2.4ghz frequencies with voice grade service on the UNII 5ghz spectrum. At present, I am finishing up a large 1.7 million sqft facility in Augusta GA. with a team of 5 other engineers.
With all the teams deployed, the whole eastern region of the project should finish in late September 2011.

In recognition of the demand for high speed services within many of the mature apartment/MDU properties in the Ozarks, ULink has devised a unique delivery service that keeps the upfront capital expense of a network out of the equation. Its quite simple:

Property owners need only pick a single basic speed to provide to their tenants. Everything else is taken care of by ULink.

ULink will install the ISP services, equipment, promotion and management of the network for your tenants. As the property owner, you will only pay on the speed you want to provide for free to your valued customers.

So you may ask, what about the gamers? Video streamers or large file downloaders?

We will take care of that as well. Users that require a larger pipe can get it on demand. ULink will setup a portal that allows these data consumers the ability to purchase additional speed when they want. No requirement anymore for all residents to pay for more than they are using. As the need arises, each tenant will have access to more speed for gaming, HD streaming or file downloading.

Its an effective and easy to implement model that provides a required amenity at a fraction of the monthly recurring cost and absolutely NO upfront network equipment capital costs. ULink recognizes that funds for amenities is scarcely budgeted for 2011. With this new service, MDU’s across Missouri and beyond can add a new feature to their current and future tenants.

Using a Ubiquiti Powerstation 5 and Nanostation Loco 5, I was able to knock out their problem in a few short hours of roof climbing. A quick test by their web broadcasting tech, a happy customer is born.

Good times.

I am working with some Ubiquiti equipment and have a 5ghz Loco cpe radio that I use. One issue with using the unit indoors, is the lack of decent mounting options. Ubiquiti offers a $20 window mount but I don’t care to pay that much for it and everywhere I look, they have been sold out.

I noticed that the surface of the Loco has a glossy and smooth texture, as does a window. For my project, I am planning on installing these devices indoors where the use of an ugly J-Arm is not applicable. So…..I thought about using a double sided suction cup and found them!

Sold by SeaSucker, a company that specializes in suction devices for the marine and boating industry, they are moving these little devices for only a $1 each!

I bought 4 of them and used two on my home radio and the other two on a customers unit. Its been over a month now and no issues with them falling off.

I plan on putting them into my arsenal as an inexpensive option for indoors installations.

Couple of pics for your enjoyment!
